The Basel concept of prudential requirements and its Basel III reform represent a complex portfolio of mutually related documents and not just light reading before bed. For those who are not directly involved in this issue in their day-to-day business it may be a hard nut to crack. Therefore, Basel Committee published a short document where it explains on 8 pages the main objectives and components of Basel III concept.
Basel III reforms are a response to the 2008 financial crisis and were announced in 2010. The individual parts have been published “per partes” (last of them in December 2017) and some of its important parts are still pending because of the political sensitivity (e.g. the sovereign risk reform). Those who intend to spend on Basel III reading only short time can reach the document here.
